Applying Discounts to Sales and Customers

Applying Discounts to Sales and Customers

Overview

Please note that if a discount is added directly to a customer profile, it will automatically apply to every sale made for that customer until the discount is either removed or the percentage is changed.

In this case, the discount cannot be edited during the sale process, as the system will automatically apply the preset percentage.

However, if you choose to apply a discount during the sale instead, you will be able to select and adjust the discount percentage for each transaction without needing to edit the customer profile.

How to Apply a Discount During a Sale

To enable this option, please follow these steps:
  1. Go to Settings
  2. Select Roles and Permissions
  3. Choose Edit User
  4. Enable the Sale Discount Apply permission

Once this permission is enabled, the user will be able to enter and apply a discount percentage while processing a sale.

How to Apply a Discount to a Customer for Future Sales

A percentage discount added to a specific customer will automatically apply to the full sale whenever that customer is selected during a transaction.
To set this up:
  1. Go to the People module
  2. Select Customers
  3. Choose Add New Customer if the customer is not already in the system, or select Edit Customer for an existing customer
  4. Enter the Discount Rate (%)

This discount will then apply automatically to all future sales for that customer until it is updated or removed.
